Hitting theaters on May 21 is the first 3D release of the fairy-tale spoof franchise “Shrek”. Director Mike Mitchell for the upcoming film entitled “Shrek Forever After” speaks about the plot of the fourth installment.
In this version, the green ogre had found himself becoming too domesticated after rescuing a princess, getting married and fathering triplets. Mitchell says, “He has lost his roar. It used to send villagers running away in terror. Now they run to him and ask him to sign their pitchforks and torches.” To straighten up things, Shrek decides to settle a deal with the troublemaker who also appeared in the 2nd and 3rd versions, Rumpelstiltskin.
In the upcoming film, actor Mike Meyers reprises his role as Shrek as well as Eddie Murphy for Donkey and Cameron Diaz for Fiona. Rumors are false meanwhile that Paul McCartney will be voicing Rumpelstiltkin.
The film also welcomes new members of the cast Kathy Griffin and Kristen Schaal taking on the roles of ogre-hunting witches while Jon Hamm voices the leader of an underground resistance group.
