Adrien Brody has been surprisingly hemmed by 20th Century Fox to portray the valiant mercenary who fights alien hunters in “Predators,” a reboot of the “Predator” franchise that is being artistically led by Robert Rodriguez.
Best recognized for his Oscar-winning turn in the Roman Polanski-directed “The Pianist,” Brody has the chance to recreate himself as an action hero, filling the shoes of a character close to the one that Arnold Schwarzenegger played in the 1987 original. In the film, Brody is cast with fellow stars Alice Braga, Danny Trejo, Walt Goggins, Oleg Taktarov, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, Topher Grace, and Louiz Ozawa.
Brody and his Paradigm reps pined hard for the role. In fact, Fox strongly wishes to coil a new franchise, and Brody has signed deals to return for future installments of the movie.
In “Predator”, Brody is a guy who winds up inheriting the responsibility of leader and is known as a hunter of men. Grace would play an intelligent crunching-numbers sort of whose inconspicuous veneer disguises a dangerous serial killer. Braga is the tough female killer. Ali is a man who has no fear of dying, Goggins is the wild one of the group and Taktarov is a former Russian special ops agent. Trejo is Cuchillo, a toughened warrior with twin Uzis fastened to his back.
Directed by Nimrod Antal, the film is about to get underway on location in Hawaii and at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas. The film starts shooting soon in Hawaii and Austin and is still set for release on July 9, 2010.
