“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” joins the list of prestigious award winners as it lines up among the winners of the fourth annual awards of the Hollywood Post Alliance.
The film seemed an underdog among the other great contenders. Despite earning its place as a wildly popular mainstream hit grossing over $400 million in domestic box office alone to grab the title as the year’s biggest earning film, the features wasn’t speculated to be an award magnet at all. However the HPA thinks otherwise as they reward Industrial Light and Magic’s composting work on “Transformers 2” recognizing technical excellence in post production over content.
Aside from the film, previously hyped disappointment “Watchmen” also came out with a surprise when they bagged another technical precision award for audio post production. Sneaking in among the special effects films to take an award of their own for post production is blockbuster hit “Slumdog Millionaire” as they take home the editing award. However “Slumdog Millionaire” won’t appear on the Oscars for this year for the honors it had previously received in the ceremony last year.
The wins “Transformers 2” and “Watchmen” had earned would serve a great advantage for them in the technical categories of the upcoming Academy Awards.
Completing the list of HPA winners are “Julie & Julia” for color grading, “Breaking Bad” for television editing, and “Fringe” takes home the award for television audio.
