Chris Pine, who played in James T. Kirk’s ‘Star Trek’ last may, is set to take on the role of yet another icon, Tom clancy’s heroic Jack Ryan.
Variety reports that Pine is in negotiations with Paramount to revive a series that once started in 1990, having Alec Baldwin as the CIA operative in ‘The Hunt for Red October’.
Paramount Film Group president, Adam Goodman, said “With Chris in this role, we’ve taken our first step in creating a reboot that lives up to the successful lineage of the franchise.”
Since Paramount’s ‘Star Trek’ earned a grossing $385 million globally last spring and summer, Chris Pine has been quite the busy actor. Recently, he appeared in the low budget horror movie, ‘Carriers’, and is currently shooting the thriller ‘Unstoppable’ alongside Denzel Washington, directed by Tony Scott. Earlier this week, Pine was rumored to be in talks with Paramount about starring as a master counterfeiter in the movie ‘The Art of Making Money’.
The role of Jack Ryan, however, will definitely boost and establish Pine’s career, and have him recognized as one of Hollywood’s leading action heroes.
