Fox’s “Romancing the Stone” remake is finally progressing in production much to most fans dismay. Recently reports have confirmed that the screenplay by Dan McDermott would be brought to life by director Robert Luketic.
The original film was directed by legendary Robert Zemeckis starring Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas. Most fans believe the film has earned its rightful place in Hollywood and creating a remake would be a huge mistake. Many are also questioning why Luketic who is known for his previous works “Legally Blonde”, “The Ugly Truth”, and “Monster-In-Law” was chosen to helm the remake. Among his list of accomplishments, his skills on directing an action-adventure genre is yet to be confirmed in his upcoming film “Killers.”
The film currently in post-production stars Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher in a couple who discovers their neighbors might be expert assassins hired to dispose of them. As an action/comedy/thriller, “Killers” would most likely demonstrate Luketic’s skills enough to satisfy fans that he is worthy to helm “Romancing the Stone” remake.
Until the “Killers” is released in June, doubts are high that Luketic is the perfect choice for the role.
