What originally began as a fake trailer for the Rodriguez / Tarantino feature, “Grindhouse”, “Machete” has recently been converted into a full-length feature film. Recent reports confirm that Fox had officially snagged the domestic distribution rights for the film after a heated bidding war.
Similar to the trailer-of-origin, the movie casts Rodriguez’s favorite actor Danny Trejo as a knife-wielding ex-federale. Acting alongside him in the film are stars Cheech Marin as the murderous man of the cloth helping Machete achieve vengeance to the politician who double-crosses him played by Jeff Fahey.
In order to receive more attention from both media and potential audience worldwide, Rodriguez gathers the best actors and actresses to create his A-list ensemble. Joining the list are Robert de Niro, Michele Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Lindsey Lohan, Rose McGowan, and Stevel Seagal.
“Machete” was already filmed by Rodriguez last fall in Austin however no release date has been announced yet.
