Four years after the release of the Oscar-winning animation of tap-dancing penguins, “Happy Feet”, the stage is set for the Warner Bros. film sequel “Happy Feet 2”. Elijah Wood who voiced the lead dancing penguin Mumble is reportedly in negotiations to reprise his role for the sequel. Earlier this year, Wood had lent his voice in another animated feature “9”.
Aside from Wood, Robin Williams is also currently in talks to reappear in the sequel again as hyperactive sidekick Ramon and leader of penguin group, Lovelace. Sources say that the duo would head to Australia early next year to begin recording the vocals for “Happy Feet 2”. The previous members of the cast including Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, and Brittany Murphy’s reprisal of their roles are left uncertain as of present.
Director George Miller also returns for the production crew not only for directing but for screenwriting the plot as well. Currently, the screenplay for the sequel is kept hidden from the public for future notice. Once again, Animal Logic would be producing “Happy Feet 2”.
It’s no doubt a sequel is highly likely after the original “Happy Feet” won the 2006 Oscar for Best Animated Feature and garnered $198 million domestically in box-office.
