Marvel Studio’s ‘Thor’ Casts Idris Elba

Marvel Studios’ film about the Norse god of thunder “Thor” adds a new face to their brewing cast. Actor Idris Elba has just recently signed up to appear on the film. He would be taking on the role of the guardian of Asgard, Heimdall. His defends the city from possible intruders by standing guard on his post at the BiFrost Bridge.

He will join stars already committed to the film inclusding Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and Natali Portman as Jane Foster.

Filming would begin in the middle of January under the direction of Kenneth Branagh at Manhattan Beach, California with producer Kevin Feige.

Elba under the management of ICM and Ken McReddie Associates in London previously appeared with Beyonce Knowles in “Obsessed” for Screen Gems. His next appearance on the big screen would be another film under the studio with thriller “Taken” and in Dark Castle’s DC Comics adaptation “The Losers.”
