Reese Witherspoon is on her way to include another title to her production resume as she is set to produce upcoming film “Rule #1”. Not only would she be working behind the scenes but would be appearing on screen as well as she takes on a role. Not much is known yet of the screenplay except it would be about a New York woman who befriends a Puerto Rican girl with an attention deficit disorder.
Witherspoon despite earning an Oscar for her role as June Carter Cash in ‘Walk the Line’ had been more popularly known for her striking appearances in romantic comedies. This new film however doesn’t seem to be a romantic comedy, but twists for this genre are highly possible as it comes from the mind of scribe Terrel Seltzer. Among his works are comedy films ‘How I Got Into College’ and George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer’s romantic comedy ‘One Fine Day’ where he served as a co-writer. Expectations are high that the screenplay would not disappoint. For now, the flow of the story is left to audience imagination.
Witherspoon’s last starring role was in ‘Four Christmases’ and her voice was also heard in DreamWorks Animation’s ‘Monsters vs. Aliens’ which grossed $374 million worldwide. Currently she is in the process of developing films ‘Bell Witch’ and ‘Around the World in 80 Dates’ set under the helm of Type A Films, her own production company. Her next appearance would be in the untitled James L. Brooks feature airing in theaters in December 2010.
Taking over production for ‘Rule #1’ with the actress is Brad Epstein under Fox Searchlight.
