Speculations had been high on director David Chase’s next takeout to the big screen. The director had been silent all this while about the beginning of his next project in as much the same way as he ended his last one.
It’s long been three years since his previous “The Sopranos” cut to black. Since then, not much has been heard from Chase, its creator regarding his next move. Would it be a follow-up to his feature film or an entirely project altogether? All we know at present is Chase’s attachment to a deal to write and direct a movie under Paramount. Could it be the highly rumoured move to the big screen of Tony, Carmela, and Pauly Walnuts trio? That idea remains to be farfetched.
Reports confirm that the director has recently released very minor and minute details on his upcoming project. He describes is as a “music-driven, coming-of-age story” set in the ’60s. Working together with him as producer is Mark Johnson of “The Chronicles of Narnia”.
As vague as it seems, this description could mean many things. It can be an extremely violent type of ensemble similar to “American Graffiti” or an Oedipal romp through Woodstock. The director prefers to keep his works under the covers until the release date draws closer. However what we can assure is that no matter how Chase chooses to end the movie, surely it won’t be featuring any songs written or performed by Journey for the band was formed later in 1973.
