Since Rachel McAdams has stepped down for the potential role of Black Cat in “Spider-Man 4”, Peter Parker’s feline nemesis role is up for grabs for any actress.
Recently a movie blog reports that actress Julia Stiles has met up in New York with the casting directors of the film. However there is no news whether she is applying as Black Cat or whether she’d be cast to star in the film. Currently the window is still left wide open. At present, the actress’ is busy wrapping up her Broadway debut in David Mamet’s “Oleanna” set for an early curtain call on January.
Aside from Stiles, another actress is highly speculated to take on the villain role. Sources say Anne Hathaway was approached by the producers to star in the film. Again, there’s no confirmation what role was supposedly offered to her. Many are assuming it’s the Black Cat.
With the controversy of casting, suggestions have rose on selecting actresses of color to play the role instead. Originally in the comics, the Black Cat is a white female. Names that have been consistently popping the internet as recommendations are Paula Patton and Zoe Saldana.
Sony is yet to make an official announcement to clear the assumptions.
