After sending waves over the global cinemas, Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” would now be solidified in DVD format for fans to take home and immortalize the memory of the King of Pop. Sony has recently announced that the Michael Jackson concert documentary’s DVD and Blu-ray versions would appear on the market on January 26, 2010.
Since it stepped down on theaters on October 28, the documentary has earned a massive and respectable $71 million domestically. Many had expected they could take home the copies by Christmas but unfortunately the studio has decided to delay the release in time for shoppers to make use of the gift cards they received for purchase.
Looking back, the film documents the preparation MJ had undertaken for his supposed concert in London for the past summer before he died of cardiac arrest on June 25. Audience is taken into a side of MJ never-before-seen and provides glimpses of what could have been his best concert to date. Scenes include the pop icon rehearsing a collection of his old and new songs.
For the DVD and Blu-ray versions, it is expected that two mini-documentaries would be included. In the Blu-ray disc, two versions of MJ’s classic music videos “Smooth Criminal” and “Thriller” are found. The DVD version’s expected retail price would be $28.95 while the Blu-ray at $39.95. There are also reportedly plans of a Playstation version which would cost around $24.95.
