Stephanie Meyer, the famous author of the Twilight series, has been recently accused of plagiarism. It was also reported that an author named Jordan Scott has found similarities between the vampire’s story “The Nocturne” (2006) and “Twilight’s: Breaking Dawn” (2008).
There are a lot of similar ideas from the two books. Among the comparable contents include, the pregnant woman that is terribly ill due to bearing of child having evil powers. Another similar thing is the tragic death of the main character. Lawyer of Jordan Scott made a letter claiming that there are many ideas that are similar with the two books.
Many of us must are familiar with the Sookie Stockhouse series (2001). It will be agreed that the plot of Meyer’s Twilight is also quite the same with the Sookie Stockhouse series. Sookie Stockhouse is the female lead who had a gift in reading the minds of other people. In the story, it was easy to read the minds of other people but on the other hand, telepathy is harder for creatures that are supernatural. She was intrigued later on with this vampire and falls in love with him. There are also shape shifters, witches and werewolves in the story.
Relating with Twilight, it is also the story of a girl who had met a vampire and falls in love with him. In this case, the Vampire lead is the one who can read minds of other people but had a hard time reading the mind of the girl. There are other similarities between the two.
It is sad to say that there should be other people being accredited for thinking of the original idea. Other people should be recognized for their ideas. How frustrating it is to know wherein the hard work you have given for a certain book, will be just duplicated. Anyhow, we have to leave this case to the ones concerned. Whatever the outcome, let us all hope that the truth will prevail. It might not be Meyer’s intention to plagiarize anyone’s work. No one knows.

I have to say in Meyers defense those similarities you pointed out could lead to even more people being told they’re plagerisizing. For example how many films/Tv shows/Books have there been a forbidden love between a vampire and a human. How many films/tv shows/books has had the same plot but just had a different way of getting there. That is why everything is genred because it is practically impossible, note the practically, to create something that is completely orginal hence why we have terms like referencing.
I Don’t really see this … this is cos people don’t like the twilight series …. but no offensive how do you think people get ideas and how they get inspriation …. lots of tv shows films and books are all the same…. Look at SOAPS … Like easterenders and corrinations street they have all the same sorta outcomes just with different charaters and different pathways of getting there… basicly i think the twilight series are the best books i have read …. i think you lot should stop making bull up soo you can put it on the internet and slander someone who has done a good job!!!
I think its totally ridiculous. Because twilight has gotten so famous and other people aren’t as famous they want to cash in on it or call it plagiarism so they can’t make money on it. I think its incredibly cruel to twilight fans and the maker of the books/films. How many vampire, werewolf, shape shifter movies/books are out there. They are all alike in one way or another. There’s only so much these characters can do with all these different types of stories. Let us have our movies and books. SHESH!!!! I think its sad when people do this just because they are upset “MINE DIDN’T GET THERE FIRST” BOOHOOO
i have to agree with Gemma..people get their inspiration from other books and stuff..if things are changed it’s not plagiarism!!!
uhm, i would like to point out the fact that none of the main characters died in breaking dawn. therefore that is a lie.
ew u guys actually read books
why read a book when u can watch the movie hehe
If that is the case, then everyone who writes about vampires being harmed in sunlight should be accused of plagiarism. I think it was Bram Stoker who originally wrote that.
