Young Canadian actress Kirsten Prout has recently landed a role that sucks, literally. She is the newest addition to the brood of vampires in the third installment of the Twilight Saga, “Eclipse”. At the age of 14, her breakthrough came in the role of Abby alongside Jennifer Garner in 20th Century Fox’s “Elektra”. But she is most known as Amanda, the love interest of Kyle in ABC Family’s “Kyle XY.”
In Eclipse, Prout takes on the role of Lucy, a key person in the back-story of Jasper Hale, portrayed by Jackson Rathbone. Lucy teams up with vampires Nettie and Maria, who turned Jasper into vampire, to create an army. However she goes up against Maria and is later on killed. Eclipse will explore deeper the story of Jasper Hale set up during the Civil War.
Prout is not the only fresh addition to the saga as many new faces are recruited to join the vampires’ lineup. Catalina Sandino Moreno will be acting side by side with Prout and Rathbone as she takes on the role of Maria. Fourteen-year-old Jodelle Ferland will play Bree, a newborn vampire. Portraying the role of another vampire Riley is Xavier Samuel. While on the other hand, Bryce Dallas Howard replaces Rachelle Lefevre as the red-haired Victoria out for revenge.
In Canada, filming of “Eclipse” under the direction of David Slade is cutting close to a wrap, after almost 3 months of shooting. Slated to be released on June 2010, expectations are high that it will follow suit to the success of “Twilight”. For the meantime, the audience is not left hanging, for on the 20th of November, the vampires and werewolves of “New Moon” are set out to bite fans speechless.
