The 3D animation sequence is now invading the film industry with the announcement of sequels to “Zombieland” and “Jackass” utilizing the technology. Sony and Paramount both confirm that the sequels for both films would be helmed using the 3D format.
Producer Gavin Palone explains, “I don’t think you want to see ‘Ordinary People’ in 3-D, but ‘Zombieland’ is clearly one movie that will benefit from (the technique)“. He also adds that the decision is influenced by the upcoming release of 3-D TVs later next year.
“Zombieland” which was released in October had taken in $85.2 million globally from a budget of merely $24 million. Currently Sony is in negotiations with original “Zombieland” stars Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg to reprise their roles for the sequel.
Paramount and MTV Films meanwhile are in the process of settling productions for “Jackass 3”. Filming is set to begin by January 25. The first two films which had a $16.5 million budget combined grossed a total of $164.1 million. Reportedly Johnny Knoxville would be returning for the sequel.
